giving tuesday.

For the last week or so we've all given thanks, spent time with friends and family, had too much to eat (and drink), and have likely spent more money than intended while taking advantage of that post holiday bliss and some epic Black Friday deals. All of that's amazing, no question. But today is one of my favorite post Thanksgiving "days" - Giving Tuesday (sorry cyber Monday, you're great, but not this great). Giving Tuesday is a day to say thanks to all of those doing some major good in the world - and let's be honest, they're the ones the need both the thanks and the giving the most. These people and organizations dedicate their lives, time, money, and energy helping others, and they work day in and day out to make the world a better place.

But really, I think Giving Tuesday is about way more than donating money to some kick ass non-profits. It's about giving, something unfortunately we (myself included) tend to forget about sometimes.  Today doesn't just mean donating money.  It's about giving what you can - maybe that's just an extra dollar or two for your local barista, helping the lady with the stroller up the subway stairs, teaching a yoga class at your local domestic violence shelter, cooking a hot meal for someone that may need it, donating some old clothes to help keep someone warm this winter...the list is endless, and even what seem like the smallest things can make the biggest difference.

Because I'd never ask you to do something that I wouldn't, today, I donated money to Planned Parenthood, and signed up to volunteer as an abortion clinic escort.  What will you do?

If you need help deciding, here are just a few of my favorite organizations that can always use your help! There are so, so, so many out there - find the one that speaks to you and GIVE.
